Mexican scholarships available

Up to 20 scholarships are being offered for the 2017 academic year.

The Government of Mexico has published the 2017 Call for Scholarships for students who are interested in studying for a specialization, Masters or Doctorate degree, or conducting graduate or postgraduate research.

For 2017, the Government of Mexico offers the countries of the Eastern Caribbean five scholarships for ACS (Association of Caribbean States) and 15 for CARICOM academic programs. These scholarships include one semester of immersion in Spanish at the Centre of Studies for Foreigners at the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

Scholarships will not be offered for direct Doctorates (postgraduate combines with Maters and Doctorate), distance learning program, open or virtual education.

To be eligible for selection, applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of Saint Lucia; possess the educational background and/or professional experience for the requested academic program; and

be accepted or currently enrolled in a program of the participating Mexican institutions.

Scholarship Benefits

The Government of Mexico will provide students with a monthly stipend of four times the minimum salary in Mexico City for undergraduate mobility scholarships, specializations, master’s degrees or master’s-level research, Spanish language or Mexican culture courses, currently the equivalent of $8,412.00 pesos (approximately US$502.32); a monthly stipend of 5 times the minimum salary in Mexico City for doctoral studies and research, postdoctoral fellowships and medical specializations and sub-specializations, currently the equivalent of $10,956.00 pesos (approximately US$627.905); registration fees and tuition, as established by the program at each institution (see the academic programs offered by the participating HEIs); health insurance from the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), starting the third month of the scholarship (the scholarship recipient must have health insurance that covers both major and minor medical expenses and provides international coverage for the first three months in Mexico); and roundtrip, economy class, international airfare at the beginning and end of the scholarship.

Required Documents

The applicant is required to provide an official nomination of his/her government; a scholarship application form duly completed with digital photography; a document which states the applicant's reasons for conducting studies or research in Mexico; Curriculum Vitae (Maximum 3 pages); and a letter of acceptance.
