Minister Flood-Beaubrun returns

The minister, along with Prime Minister Chastanet, met with representatives of the Government of Taiwan.

Minister in the Ministry of External Affairs, Hon. Sarah Flood-Beaubrun said her courtesy visit to the Republic of China (Taiwan) was a success.

Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Hon. Allen Chastanet, along with Minister Flood-Beaubrun visited Taiwan last week for meetings with representatives of the Government of Taiwan, Trading Expo representatives, and other potential investment company executives.

The ministers also laid the groundwork for an official visit later this year.

Minister Flood-Beaubrun, who returned to Saint Lucia on Sunday said the visit was eye opening.

"The trip afforded an opportunity for the exploration of possibilities and the creation of synergies between the two countries," she explained.

A meeting with Saint Lucian students studying in Taiwan, bi-lateral discussions with government officials as well as trade and investment dialogue formed some of the highlights of the trip.

Meanwhile, the  Prime Minister is on the final leg of his trip to Canada where he will meet with Canadian business partners as well as Canadian financial agencies.

In his absence, Minister for Infrastructure, Ports, Energy and Labour, Hon. Stephenson King act as Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Chastanet returns to Saint Lucia on Sep. 5.
