PARTICIPANTS WERE EQUIPPED WITHT HE SKILLS NECESSARY TO RESPOND EFFECTIVELY TO EMERGENCIES.
The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) recently organized a comprehensive first-aid workshop aimed at enhancing the preparedness and response capabilities of various sectors within the community. NEMO Secretariat staff, government workers, private sector employees, and members of local district disaster response committees (DDRC) were among the participants who benefited from this initiative.
The workshop, facilitated by experienced Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) from Leson Pou Lavi ProTrainings, Saint Lucia Fire Service, provided participants with essential knowledge and practical skills in first aid. Topics covered included basic life support, wound care, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), and the management of various medical emergencies.
Upon successful completion of the workshop, participants were awarded certificates, valid for two years, attesting to their newly acquired skills. These certificates not only recognize the participants' commitment to emergency preparedness but also serve as tangible evidence of their ability to assist emergency responders during accidents and emergencies.
The impact of such training extends beyond the individual participants to benefit the entire community. By equipping individuals with the necessary skills to respond effectively to emergencies, the workshop contributes to enhancing community resilience and reducing the potential adverse effects of disasters and accidents. Overall, initiatives like these play a crucial role in fostering a culture of preparedness and resilience within communities, ultimately saving lives and mitigating the impact of emergencies and disasters.
