The Department of Education, Innovation and Gender Relations informs of the call for applications for the 2018 Taiwan Scholarship, ICDF and I-Shou Medical scholarship programmes. These scholarship programmes provide opportunities to young talented Saint Lucians to study in Taiwan for Bachelor, Master or PhD degrees.
GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR TAIWAN SCHOLARSHIPS
- Applicants who have been recipients of any of the above mentioned scholarships from the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), and would like to apply for the 2018 Scholarship for higher education, must have graduated and returned to Saint Lucia prior to 31st July, 2017. Please also attach a copy of the stamped page of the arrival record from passport or other related proof along with the application data.
- The applicant should be Saint Lucian, and shall not have any previous record of denial, withdrawal or refusal of the grant of any scholarship from the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
APPLICATION PROCEDURES
For “Taiwan Scholarship”
Please read carefully the “Guidelines for the MOFA Taiwan Scholarship Programme”; complete the “APPLICATION FORM FOR THE MOFA TAIWAN SCHOLARSHIP” and submit it along with the following documents at the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan):
- a photocopy of your passport or proof of nationality;
- a photocopy of your highest education certificate verified by the Department of Education, Innovation and Gender Relations;
- official transcripts;
- two reference letters;
- and a Police Clearance Letter.
For the “ICDF Scholarship”
This year, 20 universities (30 programmes) in Taiwan are partner schools of ICDF Scholarship Programme. Please note that applicants should choose ONE programme and complete BOTH the university and the ICDF Scholarship online application form.

Applicants should then print out the hard copy of the necessary application forms, along with the documents listed below and submit at the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan).

For the “I-Shou Medical Scholarship”
Applicants interested in the I-SHOU Medical Scholarship MUST possess a first degree in order to apply for this scholarship. Students graduating from I-SHOU Medical School will be awarded Bachelor’s degree. Please note that this programme does not offer an Internship after graduation.
Applicants should finish BOTH online application processes via ICDF website: http://www.icdf.org.tw/TSP/WelcomeStart.aspx and I-SHOU university website: http://enroll.isu.edu.tw/enroll/dp/. Applicants should then print out a hard copy of the necessary application forms, along with along with the documents listed below and submit at the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan).

- a photocopy of applicant’s highest education certificate verified by the Department of Education, Innovation and Gender Relations;
- official transcripts;
- two reference letters; and
- a Police Clearance Letter.
For Saint Lucia Government Officials who are interested in the scholarship programmes, approval documents from their assigned Ministry will be needed along with the application form. Also these officials MUST complete the Government Scholarship Application form and submit to the Human Resource Development (HRD) Unit of the Department of Education, Innovation and Gender Relations, with a copy of the Taiwan Scholarship application form.

Please note that applicants should apply for ONLY ONE programme. Multiple applications will result in the direct disqualification of your application.
The Embassy will interview qualified applicants, who will be notified by phone. For the I-SHOU Medical Scholarship applicants, both a written exam and an interview will be held at the Embassy. The written exam covers topics on English, Chemistry and Biology, the date is tentatively scheduled for 20th April, 2018. The interview will be conducted via skype with professors from Taiwan and the Embassy. The date is provisionally scheduled for 25th to 26th April, 2018, actual dates will be announced at a later time.
An awardees’ list will be posted on the Embassy’s website on 30th June, 2018.

All application documents should be delivered to the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Reduit Beach Ave., Rodney Bay, Gros Islet, by the deadline Thursday, 15th March, 2018. Any delivery beyond the deadline, or delivery without all required documents will not be accepted. Submitted documents will NOT be returned to applicants.
